TEHRAN, May 1 (NIPNA) — The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and the Tehran Municipality have joined forces in a collaboration aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and reducing waste in municipal buildings, as well as promoting a culture of energy conservation.

A meeting was held to discuss this joint cooperation, attended by Ali Rabbani, NPC’s Director of Energy Optimization, and Mohammad Saber Baghkhahpour, Director General of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of Tehran Municipality.

Key objectives highlighted included fostering a culture of optimal energy consumption among employees and citizens, aiming for a 10-20% reduction in energy use within urban buildings and infrastructure, and improving the efficiency of heating systems while decreasing pollutant emissions from combustion.

As part of the agreement, a joint committee will be formed to plan and coordinate cost-saving initiatives. There will also be an exchange of knowledge and experiences, along with the organization of public training courses utilizing neighborhood centers to engage the community.

The initiative will also involve the creation and dissemination of educational content, and the use of urban information channels to promote energy-saving practices and encourage greater public participation in the “Energy Pulse” campaign.

Furthermore, technical visits will be conducted to identify and provide corrective solutions for high-consumption boilers. A plan is in place to adjust the burners of 500 selected boilers in municipal buildings free of charge. Following technical assessments, 200 boilers will undergo comprehensive optimization with the support of specialized service providers.

The Tehran Municipality will contribute to the implementation of these saving plans by creating the necessary executive infrastructure and allocating suitable spaces for training and public awareness activities. Both parties emphasized the use of urban advertising and cultural activities to spread the culture of energy management among families and citizens.

The participation of the families of Tehran Municipality employees in the “Energy Pulse” campaign was also stressed. By joining this campaign, families will contribute to reducing energy waste and will also be eligible to win significant prizes offered as part of the initiative.
