The agreement seeks to promote joint field exercises, training
programs, public awareness efforts, and mutual support mechanisms during
emergencies. The signing ceremony coincided with an event marking Passive
Defense Week, held under the slogan “Passive Defense: Infrastructural
Resilience, Social Sustainability.”
Senior provincial and local officials, managing directors of regional
companies, and representatives of the National Petrochemical Company attended
the ceremony, held at the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone headquarters.
Among them were Mohammadreza Moteiri, Managing Director of the Petrochemical
Special Economic Zone Organization; Aboutaleb Geraylou, Director General of
Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Organization and head of the Imam Khomeini Port
SEZ; and Farshad Eskandarinia, Director General of Passive Defense at Khuzestan
Governor’s Office.
During the event, outstanding managers and officials responsible for
passive defense within petrochemical companies operating in the zone were
honored with certificates of appreciation.
Speakers emphasized the role of passive defense measures in
strengthening infrastructure resilience, ensuring the continuity of vital
operations, and promoting social stability. They also highlighted the
importance of cross-sectoral cooperation between industrial, port, and
governmental entities to advance the objectives of Iran’s civil defense
strategy.
Plans are also underway to hold the second regional conference of passive
defense officials, specialized workshops, and family-oriented training courses
on psychological preparedness during crises. These initiatives are being
jointly organized by Bandar Imam, Maroun Petrochemical Companies, and the
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization.
