Speaking on the sidelines of the 7th Iran Expo in Tehran, Bekitemba
Beba, a pharmaceutical entrepreneur from Zimbabwe, said that African business
leaders and traders attending the joint Iran-Africa summit and export
capabilities exhibition are looking to engage with Iranian firms, particularly
in the energy, mining, agriculture, and healthcare sectors.
“Our company is active in pharmaceutical production, and we rely on
petrochemical-based raw materials,” Beba told Nipna News Agency. “That’s why we
are here—to explore opportunities for cooperation with Iranian counterparts. We
have already established some partnerships with Iranian pharmaceutical firms.”
Beba expressed optimism about the future of economic and trade
relations between Iran and Zimbabwe, noting Iran’s industrial progress and the
potential for African countries to benefit from its development model.
“Closer economic collaboration between Africa and Iran will be
mutually beneficial and will help boost growth on both sides,” he added.
The 7th Iran Expo officially opened on Monday, April 28, drawing
political and trade delegations from 111 countries, including 190 senior
officials and more than 3,100 international business representatives.
Over 1,000 Iranian companies are showcasing their export capabilities
during the five-day event, which aims to promote Iranian goods and technical
services across global markets. Key achievements from Iran’s petrochemical sector
are on display, including offerings in methanol, urea, chemicals, and polymers.
The exhibition runs through May 1 at the Tehran International Permanent
Fairground.
