During the visit, Mohammadreza Motiri, Head of the Petrochemical
Special Economic Zone Organization, welcomed Ansari and provided a
comprehensive overview of the zone’s expansion plans. He outlined the
significant economic and environmental benefits the project will bring to the
region.
Motiri highlighted the project’s role in enhancing petrochemical
infrastructure and its positive impact on economic growth, sustainable
development, and social responsibility. He pointed to key initiatives,
including urban infrastructure renewal and desertification mitigation efforts,
such as planting a minimum of two million trees in collaboration with local
environmental agencies.
He also discussed the job creation potential of the project, which
aims to alleviate energy imbalances and foster the production of new
petrochemical value-chain products in Bandar Mahshahr.
Additionally, consultants for Phase 2 of the PSEZ presented details on
the strategic placement of petrochemical value-chain projects, downstream
industries, and associated service industries, further emphasizing the
project's importance for the region’s industrial future.
This visit underscores the Iranian government’s continued commitment
to developing its petrochemical sector while balancing economic progress with
environmental sustainability.
