Zahra Saeedi Mobarakeh, speaking to NIPNA, emphasized Parliament’s
backing for the balanced development of the petrochemical industry. "Job
creation and reducing unemployment are pressing challenges for society.
Therefore, we must prioritize employment opportunities within the petrochemical
sector and focus on completing the value chain," she stated.
Saeedi pointed out that, under the Seventh Development Plan, the
capacity of Iran’s petrochemical sector is mandated to grow by 35%. “The
Industry Commission is determined to support petrochemical industries by
addressing weaknesses, thereby enabling substantial job creation in the
country. To achieve this goal, an appropriate dialogue must first be
established,” she added.
Highlighting issues like the natural gas imbalance, Saeedi stressed
the importance of resolving such challenges to ensure that the petrochemical
sector continues to drive production. "Sustainable employment requires
halting raw material exports and revitalizing downstream industries," she
noted.
Saeedi also emphasized that by focusing on the production of
downstream petrochemical products and minimizing raw material exports, Iran can
effectively neutralize sanctions. Achieving this, she said, requires stronger
resolve and greater effort.
"The recent progress and achievements in the value-creating
petrochemical sector underscore its potential to play a pivotal role in
developing non-oil exports," Saeedi concluded.
The petrochemical sector has increasingly become a cornerstone of
Iran’s economic diversification strategy, contributing to job creation and
reducing reliance on crude oil exports.
