Mohsen Adibi, the spokesperson, said the fire broke out at 11:42 a.m.
local time on Tuesday and was reported to the zone's fire department.
Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control by 1:05 p.m., with
cooling operations on affected equipment also completed shortly afterward.
“All firefighting units have left the site, and the incident has been
fully contained,” Adibi said in a statement carried by the Public Relations
Office of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone.
The fire caused minor injuries to six individuals, who were treated
on-site and later transferred to Maroun Petrochemical’s emergency medical
center for further care. “Fortunately, all those injured are in stable
condition,” Adibi confirmed.
Firefighters from Amir Kabir Petrochemical Company and Bandar Imam
Petrochemical Company assisted Maroun’s emergency teams in extinguishing the
fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by safety and technical
experts, Adibi added.
No significant disruption to operations or major environmental impacts
have been reported.
