TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and Zagros Petrochemical Company have signed an agreement to leverage petrochemical resources in a nationwide campaign aimed at reducing household and commercial gas and electricity consumption by 10%.

The agreement, signed on Saturday by Hassan Abbaszadeh, CEO of NPC, and Matin Didari, CEO of Zagros Petrochemical, is the first step in implementing the energy-saving initiative launched last month between the National Iranian Gas Company and NPC.

Petrochemical Sector's Role in Promoting Energy Efficiency

The initiative seeks to involve petrochemical companies in funding and supporting non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and investors to promote energy efficiency during the colder months. The effort is aimed at fostering a culture of responsible energy use and modifying consumption patterns across the country.

Under the agreement, 400 billion rials (approximately $9.5 million) in rewards will be distributed to consumers who reduce their gas and electricity usage by 10%. Petrochemical companies will provide the necessary financial resources for this incentive program. In return, the gas saved through these efforts will be redirected to support the sustainable production of high-value petrochemical products.

This collaboration underscores the critical role of Iran’s petrochemical sector in addressing energy challenges while ensuring industrial growth and sustainability.
