TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum and Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade (IMT) are strengthening cooperation to accelerate the goals outlined in the country’s seventh development plan, a senior official said on Saturday.

Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), emphasized the importance of aligning efforts with IMT during a joint meeting with Ebrahim Sheikh, Deputy Minister of General Industries at IMT.

“Collaboration with the Ministry of Industry will play a pivotal role in addressing production bottlenecks and facilitating downstream industries,” Abbaszadeh said, according to NPC’s official news agency.

Highlighting the need to reduce crude exports, Abbaszadeh stressed that completing the value chain and producing finished products must remain a priority in upcoming joint initiatives. "With targeted oversight, we can ensure downstream units receive adequate feedstock to meet real market demands," he added.

Both sides agreed to hold monthly follow-up meetings to monitor progress and resolve challenges. “There are no limits to how we can work together to achieve national industrial goals,” Abbaszadeh said.

Sheikh echoed the sentiment, underlining the shared commitment to fostering sustainable growth in the petrochemical sector.
