In a ceremony held on Wednesday, NPC CEO Hassan Abbaszadeh, who also
serves as Deputy Petroleum Minister, introduced new heads for Research,
Technology, and Local Manufacturing, as well as Internal Auditing. Two senior
advisors were also appointed to steer the company toward its long-term
objectives.
Highlighting the petrochemical sector’s annual investment inflows of
approximately $3 billion and equipment imports of $2 billion, Abbaszadeh
underscored the importance of supporting domestic knowledge-based companies to
meet industry needs. “Redirecting investments toward capable local firms not
only creates jobs and preserves human capital but also contributes to economic
growth and builds credible domestic brands,” he said.
The CEO expressed confidence in Dr. Nasiri’s leadership as the new
head of Research and Technology and Local Manufacturing, emphasizing the need
to involve domestic experts and innovators in advancing the petrochemical
sector. Abbaszadeh also thanked outgoing director Ali Bagheri for his service.
Addressing the financial transparency agenda, Abbaszadeh announced
Mohsen Ebrahimi’s appointment as Chief Auditor, praising his expertise in
finance and auditing. He expressed gratitude for the contributions of outgoing
auditor Ali Azizpour, describing the leadership change as a move to inject new
energy into the organization.
On the international front, Abbaszadeh discussed plans to expand
Iran’s petrochemical markets globally, emphasizing the importance of strategic
trade development. “Over the next decade, the size of our petrochemical industry
will double. We need clear strategies for managing global markets and products,
particularly in non-traditional markets like Africa and South America,” he
noted.
Abbaszadeh tasked newly appointed advisor Ali Ajami with establishing
a robust commercial management framework, stressing the need for proactive
engagement in international trade dialogues to secure a prominent place for the
industry.
In a nod to the digital future, Abbaszadeh announced the appointment
of advisor Shahram Rezaei to lead NPC’s digital transformation and AI
integration initiatives. Describing the company's extensive data repositories
as a national asset, he said, “Leveraging artificial intelligence across all
domains will unlock immense value from our vast database, transforming it into
a strategic resource.”
With these appointments, NPC aims to strengthen its position as a
leader in the global petrochemical sector while enhancing its domestic
innovation capabilities.
