He highlighted the strategic role of the petrochemical
sector in Iran’s economy and its significance in countering U.S. economic
pressures.
Bakhtiar noted that China’s domestic growth policies include
the construction of new petrochemical units, which should be closely monitored
by Iranian exporters. He stressed the need for Iranian petrochemical products
to align with China’s focus on high-quality growth and technological
advancement.
“China’s shift from rapid growth to high-quality growth,
focusing on scientific and technological capabilities, is crucial for its
economic power,” Bakhtiar stated.
He added that China’s investment in small-scale,
eco-friendly projects, known as “small and beautiful” projects, aligns with its
carbon neutrality goals by 2060.
Bakhtiar also pointed out the importance of diversifying
transportation routes to China to mitigate the impact of sanctions. He
mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance road and rail transport capacities for
Iranian exports to China.
Highlighting the strategic partnership between Iran and
China, Bakhtiar revealed that China’s imports of polyethylene, ethylene,
methanol, and cyclic hydrocarbons amounted to $11 billion, with Iran’s share
being $880 million. He called for an increase in Iran’s market share and
encouraged participation in upcoming trade exhibitions in China to strengthen
ties and explore investment opportunities.
The ambassador concluded by reaffirming the commitment of
Iranian representatives in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong to
support the expansion of Iran’s petrochemical presence in China.
