BEIJING (NIPNA) - The Iranian Ambassador to China, Mohsen Bakhtiar, emphasized the importance of high-tech exports in the petrochemical industry during the 15th Iran Petrochemical Conference (IPF).

He highlighted the strategic role of the petrochemical sector in Iran’s economy and its significance in countering U.S. economic pressures.

Bakhtiar noted that China’s domestic growth policies include the construction of new petrochemical units, which should be closely monitored by Iranian exporters. He stressed the need for Iranian petrochemical products to align with China’s focus on high-quality growth and technological advancement.

“China’s shift from rapid growth to high-quality growth, focusing on scientific and technological capabilities, is crucial for its economic power,” Bakhtiar stated.

He added that China’s investment in small-scale, eco-friendly projects, known as “small and beautiful” projects, aligns with its carbon neutrality goals by 2060.

Bakhtiar also pointed out the importance of diversifying transportation routes to China to mitigate the impact of sanctions. He mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance road and rail transport capacities for Iranian exports to China.

Highlighting the strategic partnership between Iran and China, Bakhtiar revealed that China’s imports of polyethylene, ethylene, methanol, and cyclic hydrocarbons amounted to $11 billion, with Iran’s share being $880 million. He called for an increase in Iran’s market share and encouraged participation in upcoming trade exhibitions in China to strengthen ties and explore investment opportunities.

The ambassador concluded by reaffirming the commitment of Iranian representatives in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong to support the expansion of Iran’s petrochemical presence in China.
