In a specialized panel titled "Gas Flaring, Emission
Reduction, and Revenue Generation," held during the 15th Iran
Petrochemical Forum (IPF) (IPF), A. Uzhir Khalid stated that substantial
financial resources are being spent on energy sustainability across various
countries. Therefore, efforts are being made to utilize innovative technologies
to reduce flare gas output.
He noted that reducing gas flaring can yield considerable
profits for businesses operating in this field, as highlighted by speakers at
the forum who aim to motivate the private sector to invest in this domain.
A. Uzhir Khalid added that a significant volume of gas is
flared globally each year, resulting in considerable financial losses. He
emphasized the need to address the underlying issues before presenting
solutions, identifying and resolving key challenges in this area.
He stated that the objective of collecting flare gas is to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Importantly, it also promises increased
revenue for business owners in this sector, making economic justification
essential for the initiatives undertaken. Furthermore, any introduced
technology must be reliable, transportable, and cost-effective.
The 15th Iran Petrochemical Forum (IPF) (IPF) is hosted by
the National Petrochemical Company and takes place on August 4 and 5, 2024, at
the IRIB Conference Hall.
