QOM (NIPNA) -- Iran's Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company unveiled an ambitious plan on Friday, foreseeing self-reliance in providing critical goods and equipment essential for the petrochemical industry within the upcoming 5 to 6 years.

Speaking at the sidelines of the "Narration of Progress" exhibition, showcasing the achievements and services of the 13th government, held in Qom city, Morteza Shahmirzai reiterated a key agenda of the government: the completion and manufacturing of necessary supplies through reliance on domestic industries.

He stressed the potential for local manufacturers to cater to the needs of active petrochemical entities seeking goods and equipment.

"With strategic planning propelling Iran's petrochemical industry towards growth, we anticipate achieving self-sufficiency in supplying essential goods and equipment within the next 5 to 6 years," Shahmirzai affirmed.

Highlighting the pivotal role of Iranian equipment producers, Shahmirzai emphasized their significant contribution to meeting the demands of the value-driven petrochemical industry. He specifically pointed out advancements in domestically producing catalysts crucial for the oil industry.

The collaboration between the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, knowledge-based firms, and research centers aims to ensure the local production of necessary catalysts by the end of the government's term.

Shahmirzai asserted that the 13th government's petrochemical agenda aligns with the supreme leader's strategies and the president's emphasis on limiting raw product exports, focusing instead on generating high-value final products.

Underscoring the need for a balanced evolution in Iran's petrochemical sector, Shahmirzai emphasized completing the value chain. Investments by holdings and petrochemical firms aim to curtail raw product exports, transitioning towards the production of finished goods.

The "Narration of Progress" exhibition, running from Wednesday, 24th of Aban to Sunday, 28th of Aban at the Holy Defense Garden Museum in Qom province, witnesses active involvement from the Ministry of Petroleum in showcasing the government's achievements.

Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji and Hojatoleslam Mohammad Haj Abolghasem Doulabi, head of the government and clerical communications center, visited the exhibition on the previous evening.

The exhibition serves as a platform to spotlight the strides made by the 13th government, particularly in steering Iran towards self-sufficiency in supplying the petrochemical industry.
