According to the petrochemical industry's roadmap, this system will be
implemented in 80% of companies within the next five years and in 100% by the
year 2033.
Speaking at the first Process Safety Conference in the oil, gas, and
petrochemical industries, Davood Emadi stated that the event focuses on the
implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM), examining the occurrence of
accidents, addressing challenges, and providing solutions for the implementation
of process safety management in the industry.
Performance indicators for the implementation of process safety
management are among the goals of this conference.
Emadi noted that the issue of implementing process safety management
in the petrochemical industry has been discussed since 2009. He added that
Aryasasol Polymer Company was the first company in the petrochemical industry
to initiate the implementation of the Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
The NPC official continued, stating that after an incident that
occurred in one of the country's petrochemical plants in 2016, the
implementation of the Process Safety Management (PSM) system in the industry
gained momentum. In 2011, 12% of petrochemical companies began the
implementation of the Process Safety Management system, which has now reached
45% in the petrochemical industry.
Emadi emphasized that according to the petrochemical industry's
roadmap, the PSM system will be implemented in 80% of the complexes within the
next five years and in all petrochemical industry complexes by 2033 (Iranian
calendar).
He pointed out that the implementation of the Process Safety
Management system plays a significant role in reducing accidents in the
industry. Currently, the petrochemical industry is in the process of
implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of the Process Safety Management
system in the industry.
