TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's Deputy Petroleum Minister and the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company announced on Sunday that the country's petrochemical industry is on track to produce approximately 78 million tons of petrochemical products by the end of the Iranian calendar year 1402 (March 2024 - March 2025).

Speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural Process Safety Conference in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, Morteza Shahmirzai stated that this year is poised to become one of the most productive years in Iran's petrochemical industry.

He highlighted that the industry's production performance is expected to reach around 78 million tons by the end of this year.

Furthermore, he noted that the industry's production output for the first six months of the year has already met the set targets, with more than 35 million tons of petrochemical products produced during this period.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company emphasized the priority of meeting domestic industries' feedstock needs.

He added that the government's thirteenth administration has set a clear goal of achieving the production of petrochemical products that are not currently manufactured in the country as part of the value chain policy.

Shahmirzai also stressed the importance of implementing a process safety management system across all petrochemical complexes.

He confirmed that the notification regarding the establishment of this process safety management system is expected to be issued soon by the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Directorate of the Ministry of Petroleum.

The petrochemical sector plays a crucial role in Iran's economy, contributing significantly to both domestic and international markets. With a strong focus on safety and a commitment to meeting the nation's feedstock needs, the industry appears poised for continued growth and development in the coming year.
