Emphasizing the significance of energy management in a
recent session focused on the coordination of energy specialists within the
petrochemical industry, he stressed that more than 30 petrochemical complexes
across the nation have already adopted international energy management systems,
and it is essential for other petrochemical companies to follow suit.
Addressing the importance of energy management in the
industry, Deputy Minister Morteza Shahmirzai spoke about the role it plays in
environmental preservation and reducing waste while concurrently increasing the
added value of energy carriers within the sector.
He identified wasteful energy consumption as a form of
extravagance and highlighted the importance of enforcing legal requirements for
optimizing energy consumption in the petrochemical industry.
Regarding the progress made in mitigating or eliminating
flaring in the oil industry, Shahmirzai lauded the efforts to collect
associated gases in the West Karun region to supply a portion of the required
feedstock for the petrochemical industry.
He further emphasized that effective resource management is
a prerequisite for energy management, drawing upon the valuable lessons from
the resource management approach during the Iran-Iraq War, which played a
pivotal role in the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Shahmirzai stated that more than 30 petrochemical complexes
in Iran have already implemented international energy management systems. He
expressed the necessity for other petrochemical companies to adopt these
systems, emphasizing that the mission of energy management is based on
enhancing knowledge, resource management, sharing successful experiences within
the national and international industry, and reducing energy consumption.
Concluding his remarks, the CEO of the National
Petrochemical Company hoped that by adhering to legal requirements, the
tangible and positive results of energy management would set an appropriate
model for other industries to follow, driving progress and sustainable energy
practices across the nation.
