TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company underscored the necessity for implementing energy management systems in all petrochemical complexes in the country.

Emphasizing the significance of energy management in a recent session focused on the coordination of energy specialists within the petrochemical industry, he stressed that more than 30 petrochemical complexes across the nation have already adopted international energy management systems, and it is essential for other petrochemical companies to follow suit.

Addressing the importance of energy management in the industry, Deputy Minister Morteza Shahmirzai spoke about the role it plays in environmental preservation and reducing waste while concurrently increasing the added value of energy carriers within the sector.

He identified wasteful energy consumption as a form of extravagance and highlighted the importance of enforcing legal requirements for optimizing energy consumption in the petrochemical industry.

Regarding the progress made in mitigating or eliminating flaring in the oil industry, Shahmirzai lauded the efforts to collect associated gases in the West Karun region to supply a portion of the required feedstock for the petrochemical industry.

He further emphasized that effective resource management is a prerequisite for energy management, drawing upon the valuable lessons from the resource management approach during the Iran-Iraq War, which played a pivotal role in the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Shahmirzai stated that more than 30 petrochemical complexes in Iran have already implemented international energy management systems. He expressed the necessity for other petrochemical companies to adopt these systems, emphasizing that the mission of energy management is based on enhancing knowledge, resource management, sharing successful experiences within the national and international industry, and reducing energy consumption.

Concluding his remarks, the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company hoped that by adhering to legal requirements, the tangible and positive results of energy management would set an appropriate model for other industries to follow, driving progress and sustainable energy practices across the nation.
