The project, known as the Olefin Petrochemical
Plant, with an investment of approximately €1.3 billion, has an annual
production capacity of one million tons of ethylene and 84,000 tons of C3+.
During the opening ceremony attended by President
Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji, President Raisi
expressed gratitude to the officials involved in the completion of the entirely
Iranian project, stating, "Today, with the opening of this project, we
take a valuable step towards employment development, instilling hope in the
completion of unfinished projects and promoting production growth."
According to reports, Gachsaran Petrochemical
Complex receives 1.25 million tons of ethane gas annually from Bidboland
Persian Gulf Gas Refinery through a 90-kilometer pipeline. It produces one
million tons of ethylene and 84,000 tons of C3+ (propane and heavier cuts),
meeting the feedstock needs of complexes along the West Ethylene Pipeline and
other petrochemical complexes in Masjed Soleiman, Dehdasht, Borujen, Kazeroon,
and Gachsaran.
Located on approximately 157 hectares of land in
Gachsaran, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, the Gachsaran Petrochemical
Plant has been constructed with a total estimated cost of 1.3 billion euros.
Shareholders of the company include Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries
Company (46.37%), Kazeroon Petrochemical Company (10.80%), Borujen
Petrochemical Company (9.05%), Masjed Soleiman Petrochemical Company (10.80%),
and Sepehr Export Financial Group (11.70%).
The Gachsaran Petrochemical Complex meets its
water needs through a 27-kilometer, 28-inch pipeline connected to the Kowsar
Dam, with an annual capacity of 12 million cubic meters. The required fuel gas
of 53,900 cubic meters per hour is supplied through the national gas pipeline,
while the necessary 50 megawatts of electricity is provided by the Khuzestan
Regional Electricity Company.
The design, construction, and installation of
essential equipment for the Gachsaran Petrochemical Project were carried out in
collaboration with Iranian knowledge-based centers and more than 70 Iranian
companies. Over 83% of the project's equipment is domestically manufactured,
resulting in savings of 269 million euros. Additionally, sensitive and
high-tech equipment worth 33 million euros has been domestically produced for
the first time. Consequently, the Gachsaran Petrochemical Plant is recognized
as the most Iranian Elfin plant in the country.
In addition to creating wealth and providing
feedstock for downstream industries, Gachsaran Petrochemical Plant will play a
significant role in improving the economic conditions of Gachsaran and
neighboring cities. During the construction phase, the project directly
employed over 3,000 individuals, while in the operational phase, it will
generate direct employment for approximately 1,000 people and indirectly create
up to three times more job opportunities.
