Ahmad Mahdavi Abhari made these remarks today (Tuesday, 5th of Tir)
during the thirty-second annual meeting of CEOs of petrochemical companies,
held to discuss various issues in the petrochemical industry and pursue
integration and the realization of its ongoing goals and plans.
Highlighting that the National Petrochemical Industries Company seeks
to address the existing challenges and problems in the industry, Abhari stated,
"The government should create the necessary conditions for this company to
assume its rightful position as the policy-making institution of the
petrochemical industry."
Abhari stressed that the petrochemical industry is the driving force
behind Iran's economy, stating, "The government and the Islamic
Consultative Assembly (parliament) must have sufficient knowledge of the issues
and problems in this industry while formulating development goals for the
seventh development plan."
Referring to the abundant reserves of hydrocarbon resources in the
country, he added, "Despite these rich resources, the petrochemical
industry can serve as the locomotive of the country's economic growth, and
these resources must be optimally utilized in the production sector of this
industry to complete the value chain."
Abhari listed various incentives for investors as crucial in the path
of economic development in the petrochemical sector, saying, "Considering
various factors within the framework of the law, including ensuring economic
security, new investments can be realized."
The Secretary-General of the Petrochemical Industry Employers'
Association continued, "One of the current challenges in the petrochemical
industry is determining the pricing formula and feedstock allocation, and by
implementing existing laws and amending regulations, some of the existing
challenges in this area can be addressed."
Abhari identified the exchange rate volatility from product sales on
the commodity exchange as one of the existing challenges and called for its
reform in collaboration with the National Petrochemical Industries Company.
The thirty-second annual meeting of CEOs of petrochemical companies,
hosted by the National Petrochemical Industries Company and facilitated by
