A meeting of delegations from Russia and Iran was held in
Tehran on Tuesday evening (May 16) in the presence of Russian Deputy Prime
Minister Alexander Novak, Petroleum Minister Javad Owji and a group of senior
executives from the two countries.
The agenda of this meeting was to follow up on the
cooperation areas between the two countries of Iran and Russia in the field of
energy and in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemical, atomic energy, electricity
and power, which, while reviewing and discussing the previous understandings,
solving and removing the existing obstacles for the implementation of the
understandings.
In the field of oil, it was decided that the Russian side
will soon complete the studies of Iran's oil fields and present its evaluations
about them.
It was also established that good cooperation will be formed
in the gas sector, that the negotiations will continue in this area and,
according to Iranian officials, contracts will be signed between the two sides.
On the other hand, projects in the power sector have been
defined in advance; Russia is in charge of the Sirik power plant project for
finance and financing, the obstacles to its implementation were discussed and
investigated; also, the issue of electricity connection between Russia, Iran
and Azerbaijan was discussed.
The financial aspects of the construction of phases 2 and 3
of Bushehr nuclear power plant and solutions to solve it were also discussed so
that these phases can be implemented soon.
Presentation of technological requirements by the two
countries was another part of the issues raised in this meeting.
