Morteza Shahmirzaei, pointing out that today human life is 100%
dependent on the products of the petrochemical industry, said: “For example,
this industry is in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals, transportation,
textile, and audio industries.”
He called the petrochemical industry a driving, determining,
value-creating and economy-creating industry, and stated: “This industry has
provided a very important opportunity for the country. After the revolution,
domestic experts controlled this industry with Iranian genius and talent and
did not allow the wheel of this industry to stop moving.”
The deputy minister of petroleum emphasized the necessity of
diversification and completion of the value chain, and said: “Currently, more
than 550 grades of valuable petrochemicals are produced in the country. The
export of products that are surplus to the country's consumption last year
earned about $15 billion, of which $12.5 billion were deposited on the NIMA system.”
The NPC CEO continued: “This year we have had a good hard currency generation
until now, so that since the beginning of this [calendar] year, the
petrochemical industry has injected more than $10.5 billion of hard currency
into the NIMA system.”
