On the sidelines of the visit to
petrochemical complexes and projects located in Mahshahr region of the Vice
President and Head of DOE and the Governor of Khuzestan, which took place on Thursday,
the CEO of Mahshahr Special Economic Zone Organization said: “Infrastructure in
the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone has made it possible to create new
development capacities in addition to the existing units.”
Seyed Omid Shahidinia stated: “Having a
production capacity of 26 million tons per year and a revenue of $5.5 billion,
29% of the country's petrochemical production is the share of Mahshahr
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone.”
Currently, 111 projects have been completed,
40 projects are under construction and 22 investment projects have been
feasible, he added, saying by launching these new projects, production capacity
can be increased and “we hope that it will provide significant employment in
the field.”
Chairman of the Board and CEO of the
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization continued: “The environment as
one of the important components in sustainable development, has always been
considered and industrial development is not possible without environmental
requirements. For this purpose, continuous testing of water samples and
industrial effluents, measurement of heavy particles in the effluents from the
surface water channel, online measurement of air quality in the area by fixed
and mobile measuring stations of air pollutants and also visits of flare stacks
in complexes by environmental experts can be named as part of these measures
that with the continuation of these activities, compliance with environmental
standards will be seriously pursued.”
He added: "By combining social
responsibility and environmental protection, in addition to developing green
space in the region, we have launched several hectares of green space in the
city of Bandar Mahshahr, such as Arm Park."
