Behzad Mohammadi, who is also Deputy Petroleum Minister for Petrochemical
Affairs said: "Currently, 50 projects with an average progress of about
40% are being implemented in the country's petrochemical industry. By
exploiting these projects, the capacity of the petrochemical industry will
increase from the current 90 million tons per year to 135 mt/y by 2025.”
During a visit to the petrochemical plants in Assaluyeh,
southern Iran, the official expressed satisfaction with the accelerated process
of petrochemical projects in the country, adding: “We hope to launch the 10
remaining projects in the second leap of the industry by the next one or two
months which have so far made an average of 85% progress.”
He emphasized: “At the same time, the implementation of 40
petrochemical projects in the form of the third leap plans is underway, and the
average physical progress of these projects is 34%, and hopefully these
projects will be operational by 2026.”
With the realization of the third leap, 20 new products will
be added to the petrochemical mix of the country, he went on to add.
