Parsian Energy Zone to become New Petchem Hub in Iran

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEOs of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development & Renovation, known as IMIDRO, emphasized on the development of Parsian Special Energy Zone to a petrochemical hub.

Behzad Mohammadi, the NPC CEO, and Vajihollah Jafari, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and the CEO of IMIDRO, visited the infrastructures, ports and Soroush Sustainable Energy Project and were briefed about the latest ongoing activities in the area last Wednesday.

On the sidelines of the visit, Behzad Mohammadi, who is also deputy petroleum minister for petrochemical affairs, thanked IMIDRO for providing the infrastructure of the region, and told reporters: “IMIDRO has made a good investment in construction of this region and has worked hard and soon Parsian region will become the new hub of petrochemical industry.”

He added: “20 million cubic meters of gas has been allocated to this region and the transfer of other feedstocks for this region is being planned and in addition to oil and gas feedstocks, the transfer of basic products from Assaluyeh petrochemical region is also being studied.”

Mohammadi continued: “2,200 hectares have been allocated to the development of petrochemical plants in this region and the development of projects will help prosperity and employment in the area. Currently, the National Petrochemical Industries Company has issued various licenses for the presence of petrochemical plants in the Parsian region. One of these projects is Soroush Sustainable Energy project, which is a GTX project.”

Parsian Port ready to export petrochemical products

Jafari, for his part, said that the Parsian port would be prepared for exporting petrochemicals by the end of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.
