TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20 was the most difficult year for the oil industry, however great achievements were made during the year.

Speaking to reporters following the 15th ministerial meeting of OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers on Thursday evening, he described the year as a brilliant year in the oil industry as, for example, the annual production capacity of Iran's petrochemical industry increased by 25 million tons and the country's crude gas production reached one billion cubic meters per day.

Mr. Zangeneh also said that expert meetings were to be held at the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum to review the obstacles of production and productivity in the industry in line with the Supreme Leaders designation of the New Year slogan as the year to support production and remove the bottlenecks.

Zangeneh stated: “We should use the opportunity to remove production barriers,” adding: "You should pay attention to the fact that removing all production barriers is not in the hands of the Ministry of Petroleum and other members of the government, the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the judiciary are also involved."
