Speaking to reporters on
the sidelines of a ceremony to sign major contracts for gathering flared gases
on Monday, Jafar Rabiee said that
feedstock supply and capturing flared gas have been two of the main concerns of
the petrochemical industry over the years.
PGPIC is currently engaged
with a €1 million project for gathering flared gas, adding a major part of the project
is being developed by local experts given the fact that the lion’s share of the
high-tech items needed in the industry are supplied domestically.
Once operational, the
project will result in a major reduction in gas flaring in the southwestern
oil-rich province of Khuzestan to be consumed by petrochemical plants as
feedstock.
