TEHRAN (NIPNA) – A member of the Iranian parliament’s committee for industries and mines voiced the body’s support for petrochemical projects in Iran.

Speaking to NIPNA, on the sidelines of the 14th Iran Plant International Exhibition, Farhad Tahmasebi said the industry could transform Iran's economy and industry, saying the parliament is ready to review and approve plans and bills that are formulated with expert opinion in the development of the petrochemical industry.

The representative of Estahban, Neyriz and Bakhtegan people in the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: “The Parliament has always supported the petrochemical industry and this exhibition showed that the development of this value-added industry in all dimensions is accelerating.”

He pointed out that in the conditions of sanctions, the development of the upstream and downstream petrochemical industry continued in earnest, adding: "Due to the existence of vast feedstock resources in the country, petrochemicals can transform Iran's economy and industry."
