Addressing a
meeting with petrochemical industrialists and executives on Monday, Dr. Rouhani
said that the word “leap” is becoming for the industry given the groundbreaking
achievements it has made in recent years despite the sanctions.
He said the
country’s petrochemical production capacity was expected to reach 100 mt/y by
2021 (first leap) which would be nearly double the country’s current output
(roughly 54 mt/y).
Rouhani further
said that the sector’s revenues were also expected to reach 37 billion dollars
per year by 2025 (third leap) from currently $17b.
The Iranian
President added that the country was targeted by an all-out economic war,
adding the petrochemical achievements were made under tough circumstances which
were invaluable.
