The 20-kilowatt plant was launched in a ceremony attended
by the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and deputy petroleum minister
for petrochemical affairs, Reza Norouzzadeh, in Mahshahr on Tuesday.
Managing Director of Mahshahr Petrochemical
Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) Omid Shahidinia, addressing the ceremony to
launch the project, said the solar power
plant pilot project could be a safe replacement for conventional power generation
facilities in areas like southern regions of the country, so their development could
be on the agenda.
Mahshahr enjoys many sunny days throughout a year
and solar systems can benefit from the sun in most days.
He also said that another solar panel for production
of 100 kW of electricity for administrative purposes was under way besides a
wind farm which will be developed in the region.
