TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Haldor Topsoe, Danish producer of heterogeneous catalysts, will immediately return to Iran's petrochemical projects once Iran has its nuclear sanctions removals in the wake of the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the company's vice president said.

Per K. Bakkerud, Haldor Topsoe's executive committee member and group vice president, told a senior panel meeting of the 12th Iran Petrochemical Forum (IPF2015) here on Sunday that the company is seeking to "a long-term presence in Iran immediately after the removal of sanctions."

He said the Danish petrochemical giant is planning to wade into Iran's petrochemical sector as soon as the US-engineered sanctions on Tehran's nuclear program are lifted.

"Iran enjoys an exquisite status in the world with regard to its vast oil and gas reserves and can develop dramatically in the field," he said.

Some 97 foreign companies from 25 countries have participated in IPF 2015 which shows an increase of 120 percent compared to IPF 2014.

More than 15,00 representatives from domestic and foreign firms including Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherland, Russia, and US are taking part in the event.

Participants in the IPF2015, one of the world’s most prestigious events representing the petrochemical industry, are discussing the core issues that the industry is facing with the emphasis given to Iran.

Haldor Topsøe specializes in the production of heterogeneous catalysts and the design of process plants based on catalytic processes, he said.

The company's focus areas include the fertiliser industry, chemical and petrochemical industries, and the energy sector (refineries and power plants).

Haldor Topsøe is one of the world's leading companies within the field of heterogeneous catalysis, and appx. 50 percent of the fertiliser used on a worldwide scale is made with the help of technology from Haldor Topsøe.

"We are waiting the removal of sanctions to restore our activities in Iran," Bakkerud told the panel meeting.
